After a couple of missteps by Netflix this year (ahem! price increases, botched new service), the video service company has made the greatest huge mistake ever. New episodes of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT will begin airing on Netflix starting the first half of 2013 (no word on how many episodes have been ordered). There’s also no official word if all the cast is set to return, but from the cast’s previous statements over the past few months, it seems like everyone should be back. Also, in question is the long rumored movie, but again, cast and show creator Mitch Hurwitz have stated that a script is in the works.
In related news, it seems that Netflix beat out Showtime and Hulu for the rights to ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT as the company is venturing to move to creating original television content (it’s producing and distributing Kevin Spacey’s upcoming project HOUSE OF CARDS). Fox will continue to produce the show.
Enough about news. We’ve wanted this pillar of comedy to return for a long time after so many false starts and rumors. What we are focusing now is on what jokes, characters or motifs we are anxious to see. The list is too long but here goes, in no particular order:
Franklin
Tobias
“Her?”
“I’ve made a huge mistake”
“Marry me!”
Never nude
Chicken dances
“No touching!!!”
GOB’s magic tricks (Illusions!)
“Heyy brother”
Return of Barry Zuckercorn? Or Bob Loblaw?
The Cornballer
Buster’s claw
“Hi, Annyong.” “Annyong.”
The banana stand
“Come on!”
The Charlie Brown walk of sadness
“STEVE HOLT!”
“Say goodbye to these, Michael! Because it’s the last time you’re going to see them.”

The only thing less likely than new Arrested Development episodes is Netflix still being around two years from now.
